INTRODUCTION
Evaluate and provide feedback about the overall experience of interacting with products on Facebook that leads to an 
online purchase.
DISCLOSURE
This project seeks to improve the purchase experiencefrom products sold on Facebook. Participation in this project 
requiresyou toanswerquestions about purchasesyou have madefrom products sold on Facebook and provideaccess to 
your Facebook profileto recreate those purchase experiences. Participation in this project is entirely voluntary,and you can 
stop at any time.
Should you encounter any payment or processing related issues after purchasing from sellers in this project, your 
contracting company, requests that you contact your bank or credit card company.
GETTING STARTED
Go to URL: https://www.facebook.com/pbp/ratings and log into your Facebook account.
When you open the tool, you will see two types of activities:Purchase or Review.

Purchase:These are the items you should click on to select a product to purchase. You will be asked a series of 
questions pertaining to the product purchase experience.
Review:These are the items that you have already purchased products from. Once the product arrives, examine 
and evaluate the entire product purchase experience. You will be asked a series of questions regarding the entire 
purchase experience, including the delivery experience and product quality.

Overall Guidance
Go to https://www.facebook.com/pbp/ratings andlog in to your Facebook account.
When you open the tool, you will see two types of activities you can choose: “Purchase” or" "Review."
Select “Start Purchase” under “Purchase” whenever you have purchases available.Select the first product in the list 
and follow the steps below. Follow these steps for all other products available.
NOTE: At some point, you may need to skip the product.See guidelines and instructions for “Skipping a 
Product” for more information.
After selecting the product, review the product to understand its objective and click on the call-to-actionto visit 
the linked-website. See guidelines and instructions for “Things to do before buying a product” “Things to do and
while buying a product”for more information.
Complete the “Purchase Product Survey” for each product purchased.
After filling the survey, see guidelines and instructions for “Things to do after buying a product.”
Once you receive shipping information, update the status of your purchase.
Select “ ” under theStart Review Reviews section.
Find the product listing that matches what you purchased.

Note: If you don’t receive your product more than 2 weeks after the expected delivery date, follow the 
steps above to return to the “Update Shipping Survey”. The survey will now have additional questions for

Once you receive the product, complete the “ReviewProduct Survey.”

If the product you purchased was available, leave the “Purchase Processed” toggle on and complete

If your purchase was canceled, switch the “Purchase Processed” toggle off and complete the 
corresponding survey.

SKIPPING A PRODUCT
In some cases, you may find that you will need to skip the product. Products should only be skipped for the 
following reasons:

The product price exceeds the spend limit ($150 USD) or you reached your total spending limit ($500 
USD).
Company website error
Error in the Rating Tool
Error in visiting external product website (broken link, unable to add to cart, etc.)
Error during checkout or payment (declined payment method, company unable to provide an 
invoice, etc.)
Doesn'tship to my address
Company website is not in my language
Product is no longer available or out of stock(do not go to a physical store to make a purchase)
Didn't respond to instant messaging/chat service
A subscription is required
Does not include an e-Commerce product (selling digital good, 3rd party food delivery service, electronic 
gift card,gold or other precious metals when used as a form of currency (medallions, coins), auctions/bids, 
other services etc.)
Sale of live animals or body parts

Step 1: If you need to skip the product, take a screenshot that supports the reason you skipped the 
product.Please make sure to remove or cover any visible personal information such as your name or contact 
information including your email address, physical address or phone number before uploading.
Step 2: With Purchase, select “Skip This Product” which is available below the product previewand complete the 
corresponding survey.

THINGS TO DO BEFORE BUYING A PRODUCT
Please read all instructions carefully before making any purchases. We audit purchases to ensure they were made within the 
program guidelines. If it is found you violated one of these policies, then you may NOT be re-reimbursedfor the purchase 
and could lead to immediate termination from the program.
Buy the exact product you’re prompted to (unless there is a valid reason to Skip).
You should purchase a single item from an ad unless there is a minimum quantity required to check only
out. Do not purchase additional items solely for the purpose of an additional discount. In this case, you 
may purchase the minimum quantity required from the seller but the total of your purchase (regardless of 
the required quantity) may not exceed the $150 USD per ad limit in order to do so
If the products leads to a catalogue of products or just the main page of a store, browse around as if you were 
shopping normally and select the product(only 1 that you're most interested in).
If the ad leads to a Facebook or Instagram Shop, complete your purchase directly from the Shop when possible. 
You can tell if a product can be purchased through the Shop by looking for a call-to-action like “Add to Cart” or 
“Buy Product Now”.

If you can’t complete your purchase through the Shop , you’ll be directed to the company’s website from a 
call-to-action like “Checkout on Website”. In this case, complete your purchase as you normally would.

When answering questions in the Purchase Experience Survey regarding shipping, return policies and 
exchange policies, scroll down on the product page to refer to the “Shipping & Returns” section of the 
Shop for information.

When answering questions in the Purchase Experience Survey regarding contact information, go to Shops’ 
“Home” page and refer to the“About Us” section of the Page for information.

If the ad requires you to create an account to purchase a product, please create an account. Account creation is 
not a valid reason to skip an ad.
If the advertiser’s website sends you to another website to purchase the product, please do so. For example, if 
the product buy button on Advertiser X’s website leads to Advertiser Y’s website to actually purchase the same 
product, please purchase the product from Advertiser Y. 
If a product is a consumable, you do NOT have to consume or apply the product. You should still purchase the 
product and complete the survey questions related to the shopping, shipping, and product arrival experience. 
(ie. vitamins, protein powder, lotion, shampoo, pizza delivery, teeth whitening, skin care, etc.)

We don't want price to influence product selection, so please select the product based on interest not high or 
low cost. However, the price of any single product should not exceed $150 USD including shipping and tax.
Please remember that you exceed $500 total cost for all 10 products. For example you could not cannot
buy 5 $150 dollar products
If you cannot purchase the product due to one of the following reasons, go back to the tool and skip the 
product. You should not skip products for any other reason not listed. You will need to upload a screenshot that 
clearly validates the skip reason.Please make sure to remove or cover any visible personal information such as 
your name or contact information including your email address, physical address or phone number before 
uploading.

THINGS TO DO WHILE BUYING A PRODUCT
Select the shipping option that you would select if you were shopping normally.
Use whichever payment method you would normally use to shop.
Please read over the survey part 1 questions below before completing your purchase. It is helpful to shop in one 
browser tab while keeping the survey questions open in a separate browser tab so you can navigate between the 
survey questions as you purchase the product.You will need to collect some important information as you are 
buying each product:
Shipping tracking number
Receipt for reimbursement
Note: This can be a screenshot of the payment confirmation page if no receipt is emailed to you.

In the event you encounter products which require you to reach out to the advertiser through a 3rd party 
application (FB Messenger, Line, WhatsApp, etc.) please make sure you do so to continue the purchase process.
Be sure to request an order confirmation email which includes all order information.
If you are unable to identify a product within guidelines or you are unable to complete a purchase after 
communicating with the advertiser be sure to include screenshots of your conversation, which outline the reason 
you are unable to complete the purchase, to attach when asked.
Any form of payment is acceptable for purchases made through 3rd party messaging applications as long as a 
receipt or bill of sale can be provided for reimbursement and documentation.
The receipt/bill must include an itemized breakdown of all costs (shipping, product, tax, etc.).

THINGS TO DO AFTER BUYING A PRODUCT
If you receive a shipping confirmation email after purchasing the product, go back to the tool (Review) and enter 
the expected product delivery date.
If you receive a revised shipping confirmation email after an earlier shipping confirmation email,go back to the 
tool (Review) and enter the revised expected product delivery date.
If you didn't receive any delivery information and have not received the product 8 weeks after the purchase date, 
go back to the tool (Review) and indicate Did Not Receive.
If the product didn't arrive within 2 weeks after the expected delivery date,go back to the tool (Review) and 
indicate Did Not Receive.
If the product eventually arrived, go back to the tool (Review) and submit a review.

Upload your tracking number and reimbursement information including product price, tax, shipping, currency 
purchased in and copy of receipt.

THINGS TO DO AFTER RECEIVING A PRODUCT
Open the tool (Review) select the product listing that you purchased the product from.
Take a look at the product description page screen shot you uploaded to refresh your memory on the entire 
purchase experience.
When answering your satisfaction with the purchase experience, please remember these are products the you 
may not ordinarily see in your feed or products that you may not even be interested in, but we would like for you 
to focus your satisfaction level based on the purchase experience. Additionally if your satisfaction level is less 
than satisfied, please support that neutral or dissatisfied rating in the comments.:
Consider how much theoverall experience(including product quality, delivery, customer service, and any 
other experience) met your expectations based on what was promised in the product listing, product 
description, and post purchase emails sent by the advertiser.
Do not consider the “value” of the product. For example, do not consider whether you can get this type of 
product cheaper somewhere else.
For product quality, also consider the feel and smell of the product.
Do not consider the website’s quality.
If you are unfamiliar with the product, feel free to ask someone else to provide input. For example, males 
should ask females for feedback on female oriented products like dresses. Or non-parents should ask 
parents about child products.
If the product you purchased was out of stock, please slide the “Purchase Processed” switch to the off position. 
Answers the questions and upload a screenshot of the out of stock confirmation. Otherwise, leave the “Purchase 
Processed” switch in the on position.
At the end of the survey, please describe your overall purchase experience in more detail and explain the reasons 
for the ratings that you provided. For example:
What part of the purchase experience went well?
What part of the purchase experience didn’t go well?
What led you to provide the responses provided?
