RESPONDS After Getting Slammed For Restricted Mode Blocking LGBTQ Videos)

- Rowan Ellis british YouTuber says that 40 of her videos were removed in the restricted
mode. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Zr6pS07mbJc (She also says that in a
channel of a bisexual youtuber all her content featuring her girlfriend was gone while
her content featuring her ex-boyfriend was still there).
- https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uutBkzvrqlM (in the end of the video it says that
YouTube has made a better statement – look for the most recent one)
YouTube was a place where I found a community of people that understood what I was
going through. (…) YouTube has always been a place where you can find a person who
is just like you.
It is not about stopping the filter. Is about not including LGBTQ videos in the filter if
their content should be available who are strugling about their sexuality.
In a second note, Gigi also says that the filter might even make some YouTubers stop
being their authentic selves not to be flagged as content that should be blocked by the
filter (don't like this argument that much, tho)
notes: The filter was not recently implemented (more research has to be done in order
to find when it first started). But it was on the March of 2017 that big YouTubers steped
foward about this issue and started the YouTubeIsOverParty hashtag.
Based on users flaging – we don’t know who is flaging and whether they have
homophobic bias.
